Converted in my late teens in my home town Gateshead Upon Tyne. My family were nominal Anglican's. I was converted through the witness of Welsh Calvinistic Methodists - otherwise known as Presbyterian's in Wales. Our Minister and his son of course - had a huge influence in my coming to Christ, was a Welshman. My Church for the first ten years was the English Presbyterian Church.I was made an Elder in 1965 but left that denomination the year I came to NZ in 1970.

Dear friends I have made a decision to leave this site. I feel it is for Cambodian's and I'm out of place. Not that I have been made to feel out of place. I have been a Christian for 49 years and in that time I have seen many changes in the Church - many things that sadden me. I am a Reformed Evangelical believer. That will mean nothing to many of you who have been converted in the latter part of the 20th cent. Most Church's today have departed from the faith of our Evangelical forefathers and many even critisise their thological stance. The influence of Pentcostal and Charismatic churches have almost swamped the old theology. There was a revival of that theology in the 1940s due ( humanly speaking anyway ) to the preaching of Dr. Martin lloyd Jones, Westminister Chapel, London, whose every sermon has been printed in books and pamplets. His influence in university circles through IVF challenged many young men to enter the ministry, and along with John Stott and Iain Murray prepared those young men to do battle with the downgrade in theological perspective - particularly as it relates to the Doctrine of The Holy Spirit.

In the ministry of these men there was a great longing for revival that would challenge the growing tide of unbelief, and the rebellion of the Church to the authority of God's word. The concern of the mainline Church's at this time was for a united church; to achieve this, the mainline church's were prepared to ditch the great biblical truths upon which those church's were based . The final aim in all this was the eventual union with Rome.

The result of all this was that Christian's left the mailine denomination's and started new Church's without any structure or central organisation - in a word confusion and fracture. Most are anti doctrinal apart from the bare minimum of statement of faith. Many of these new structures have become Charsimatic and imbibe the worship styles and general disregard for solid biblcal teaching that once characterised the OLD EVANGELICALISM. The ringing challenge to sinners to repentance and a life of sacrificial service is absent, to be replaced by a gospel of FEEL GOOD - of WORLDLY SPIRITUALITY that knows nothing of CROSS BEARING and PERSONAL MORTIFICATION. If there is genuine faith, there will be the NEW BIRTH. And the new birth will have a life in the Holy Spirit. There will be FRUIT. The fruit of holy living and earnest desire after Christ Himself.
Farewell brothers and sisters in Christ. May the Lord give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I shall delete in a week. Edd

Greetings brother, forgive me for not replying earlier. I came on this site at the beginning to try to contact some Cambodian friends in Phnom Penh before I visited there recently. Unfortunately I was unable to contact them. I visited Poi Pet to work with youth teaching welding skills - among other things. Love your site. For Christ Edd
