Subject: Why is the Bible reliable?
Content: As Christians, we have things that we want to say to those who don’t yet know Jesus or accept Him as Savior . But when we start to quote scripture or make references to things that are in the Bible, we probably encounter resistance because our listener may see the Bible as a non-reliable source. Some would say that it is not our job to defend the Bible, but to use it (like a two-edged sword). Indeed, I believe that God is capable through the Holy Spirit to use the Word to pierce the hearts of those that hear, even if they claim to reject these words because they don’t accept the Bible as a valid source . On the other hand, there are those who desire to know God, but find themselves at a sort of mental impasse which holds them back from accepting the gospel message. Moreover, Christians themselves will find their faith strengthened as they begin to see that there are good, rational reasons to believe that the Bible is a reliable source. I have some vague reasons why I believe in the reliability of the Bible. My faith in God, which results from His amazing workings in my personal life, always seems to overcome any doubts that I have pertaining to scripture, so I usually don’t dwell on it too much. I’d like to ask you in the Christian community to help me to understand why the Bible should be looked at as a reliable source . Feel free to jump in, not only to lay out an argument for such reliability, but to pose some concerns that you have about it. Please try to avoid large texts of copied and pasted information, if possible , and write in a way that will keep the readers interested (paraphrase where possible) - I think that extra heavy doses of information tends to turn people off. That may not be possible to get a certain point across, but let’s see how it goes. Thanks in advance.
