Title: What if I don’t feel like smiling?
Tags:
Blog Entry: I consider myself a person that enjoys having fun and being silly. In the silly department, I probably need help; I just don’t know how to quit once I get started. When I’m not having fun, y’know just strolling around a mall or whatever, I don’t tend to smile much. It’s not that I’m not happy; maybe on- command smiling just doesn’t come naturally for me. Is it an American thing, or what ? I ask if it’s an American thing that we’re all supposed to smile all the time. Maybe it’s universal. Regardless, I just don’t smile unless I have something to smile about. Please don’t say that because I have Jesus, I always should be smiling. If Christians walked around with permanent smiles on their faces, they would probably be viewed as insane. So I’m not going with that reason. Anyway, it bothers me that some people are very photogenic and can smile a very natural smile at anyone they want at any time. I don’t dislike these smiley people but, I guess I’m envious. I cannot force myself to smile unless there is something that my emotions tell me is deserving of a smile !! How do I learn to smile at people when I don’t feel it? I am willing to smile at anyone even if I don’t feel like it, I just need to know how to do it without it looking fake. Can anyone offer some hints – are there classes I can take? What’s the secret? I’m tired of people telling me I look too serious. CAN ANYONE RELATE TO ME ???????
