The word of God is the Bible so this points out how very important it is to read the Bible.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 Timothy 3:15
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
FAVORITE VERSE
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Not that I'm qualified to accurately interpret this verse but this is what it means to me.
God loved his creations, created in his image, throughout the world very much. He allowed his son, Jesus, to become human and endure many things we hate as humans: Pain, hunger, sorrow and death.
Anyone can have everlasting life if they believe in Jesus but not everyone will. Certainly those who God is drawing to him. Faith or to believe in the Son is a gift given from God not that any man should boast. I interpret Whosoever as anyone in that God is not a respecter of persons. In this age of Political Correctness, this verse is very meaningful. This verse applies to all races and colors, sexes, stature, etc.
Everlasting life - is there a better gift? It's the gift that keeps on giving and never ends.
Also note that John 3:15 is repeating a portion of John 3:16 with the word ETERNAL replacing EVERLASTING. When Jesus repeats something, it is very important.

And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
